Uncommon Potato Rolls With Vegan Cheddar
I found this recipe on Youtube and I do not remember who had made it.
With no connection to the recipe, I was listening to a Bucharest concert that took place on the 15th of January 2021, Romanian National Culture Day, while making it. Back in 1850, on the same day, Mihai Eminescu, a very well know poet, at least here, was born. Alexandra Coman, soprano, and Ana Ungureanu, violinist, took part in this concert.
Difficulty: medium.
Kitchen tools:
- steamer (or pot if you boil the potatoes);
- cooker;
- pan;
- bowl;
- tablespoon;
- fork;
- spatula.
Duration: 40 min.
Serves: 6 (easy pieces)
You need:
- 1000 g of potatoes (already peeled, otherwise you need 1.3 kg of potatoes);
- 150 g of breadcrumbs;
- 3 tablespoons of corn flour;
- 200 g of plant based cheddar;
- 5 tablespoons of olive oil;
- water (for the steamer or pot)
- salt and pepper (to taste).
Method:
1. Get in the mood.
2. Thank the ingredients for giving you energy.
3. Peel the potatoes, wash them, dice them, and place them in the first compartment of your steamer.
4. Cover them and set the timer for 20 min.
5. Meanwhile, cut the cheddar into six even pieces, on the width.
6. When they are steamed enough, mash the potatoes with a fork.
7. Add the breadcrumbs, the corn flour.
8. Season with salt and pepper.
9. Get them together.
10. Press a generous cake out of the potatoes. (Make sure you have six portions.)
11. Place a cheddar piece on the cake.
12. Roll the cake over the cheddar and make sure that is perfectly sealed (the cheddar will melt inside).
13. Repeat the process until you have six pieces.
14. Place a pan over the fire, pour the oil, and when hot, place the rolls in the pan.
15. Fry them until they get crimson.
16. Enjoy!
