Fried Soy Chunks With Rice and Plums and Tomatoes Sauce

It took me to made this as long as the discussion on ”A Quantum Life with Hakeem Oluseyi” on ”StarTalk”, about the interesting life of an astrophysicist that got from a life in the ”streets to the stars”.

Difficulty: medium.

Kitchen tools:
- frying pans (2);
- steamer (or pot, if you boil the rice);
- cutting board;
- cooking machine;
- knife;
- a little bowl (to give rice a shape);
- bowl;
- colander;
- spatula;
- plates;
- paper towls;
- pot;
- tablespoon.

Duration: 50 min.

Serves: 2.

You need:

- 150 g of dried plums;
- 300 g of white rice;
- 3 tablespoons of wholegrain flour;
- 2 tablespoons of bread crumbs;
- 6 chunks of dry soy;
- 3 tomatoes (chopped);
- 1 onion (chopped);
- Garam Masala (a pinch);
- red hot chili flakes (a pinch);
- 1 tablespoon of mix seeds;
- 5 tablespoons of grapeseed oil;
- 3 tablespoons of olive oil;
- 100 ml of wine (white or rosé);
- 1 cup of water (for the crust of the dried soy);
- water for the steamer and for boiling the soy chunks;
- salt and pepper to taste.

Method:
1. Get in the mood.
2. Thank the ingredients for giving you energy.
3. Place a pot over the fire, add some 500 ml of water, season with salt and pepper and add the soy chunks. Boil them for 2-3 min.

4. Meanwhile, add water in your steamer, add the rice in the rice tray, season with salt and pepper, cover with water, place it in the first compartment of your steamer and set the timer for 20 min.

5. Dry the soy chunks in a colander.
6. Chop the onion.
7. Chop the tomatoes.

8. Place a pan over the fire, add the 3 tablespoons of olive oil, and when hot add the onion.
9. Fry it until it becomes a little translucent.

10. Add the tomatoes and season with salt, pepper, add the hot chili flakes, a pinch of Garam Masala, and cook them stirring from time to time.

11. Meanwhile, chop the plums.

12. Add them to the pan together with the tablespoons of mix seeds.

13. Cook for about 3 min and add the whine.

14. Coof for 5 min.
15. Meanwhile, add the flour and the bread crumbs to a bowl, then the water (just enough to get a sticky dough), season with salt and pepper.

16. Squeeze the soy so there is as little water as possible in them.
17. Place another pan over the fire, add the 5 tablespoons of grapeseed oil.
18. When hot, cover each soy chunk with the dough and fry them on medium fire for 5 min on each side.

19. Dry them on paper towels placed over a plate.
20. Fill the little bowl with rice and place it upside down on a plate.

21. Add three pieces of soy chunks and the sauce according to your artistic sense.
22. Enjoy!
