Simple Soy Drink
I prefer ”drink” to ”milk” because this is not milk and I really like the sound of ”drink”, since it reminds me of Autua from ”Cloud Atlas” that named the sea ”drink”.
There are two was of making this drink: raw and boiled. I prefer the latter because it tastes better... for me. But not today.
If you prefer the raw one, you can skip the boiling part.
Difficulty: easy.
Kitchen tools:
- kitchen scale (optional);
- bowel;
- pot;
- cloth;
- colander;
- blender (or soup maker with options for cold and hot nutmilk);
- spatula (only if you boil it in a pot).

Duration: 15 min (time for soy beans to soak not included).
You need...
Ingredients for 1 l of drink:
1. 100 g of soy beans;
1. 100 g of soy beans;
2. 2 l of water for soaking;
3. 1,3 l of water;
3. 1,3 l of water;
4. some cocoa powder for contrast.
Method:
1. Get in the mood.
2. Thank the ingredients for giving you energy.
3. Soak the soy beans in 1 l of water.
5. Drain and rinse them.
6. Place them in a kitchen blender and add 1.3 l of water. (Do the same if you have a soup maker and press either Nutmilk (with boiling) or Nutmilk (no boiling).)
7. Blend them for three minutes at maximum speed. After that, you will get a nice looking drink.
8. Filter it through a colander covered with a cloth over a pot. You will get a litter more than 1 l, but this depends on step 9.
9. Squeeze ”the jelly from your eyes”... No, that is Shrek talk... But squeeze it well. You will get a nice little bowl of okara and some nice soy drink. (I use the okara for a kind of paste I like. But that is another story.)
10. Now it is time to decide: to boil or not to boil. (If you haven't done it already in the 6th step, with your soup making tool appliance.) If you decided to boil it in a pot (I did not this time), get it to the boiling point, reduce the heat and simmer it for 20 min mixing it all the time.
11. When it's cold, it's good to go down the... I was about to say ”milky way”, but no, down the ”drinky way”.
